The Origins

The Knipser family originates from the Southern Tirol (Italy) where the Merano townsmen were first mentioned in historic records in the 16th century. In 1573, Gaudenz Knipser was a town planner and councillor. In 1582 the Archbishop of Innsbruck awarded the family its coat of arms that is still used to the present day.
